Obituary

Thelma M. Miller passed away on July 19, 2013 at the Lompoc Comprehensive Care Center after a lengthy illness.
Thelma was born in Oklahoma to George and Sarah Welch onDecember23, 1926.She and her five siblings were raised in Arkansas. During World War II, she moved to Detroit to be close to her sister and worked in the aircraft industry to help in the war effort. In 1946, she married Tommie Gann and together they had three children; twins Larry and Garry, and their daughter Teresa.
Thelma was a homemaker and very involved in her children's school activities. She loved to sew and crochet and was known for making beautiful afghan blankets. She won numerous awards in the Santa Barbara County Fairs. She also enjoyed gardening and canned many of her fruits and vegetables.
Thelma worked at Stanley Market in Lompoc, and for many years she worked at Moore's department store. After the store closed, she became a child care provider and especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren.
In 1980, she married George Miller and moved to Medford, Oregon. After George passed away , she returned to Lompoc in2007.
Thelma is survived by her daughter Teresa (Ed) Belluz of Lompoc and Larry Gann of Canton, Texas. Her sister Everett Sheets of Jonesburg, Arkansas; six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive her.
She was preceded in death by her parents George and Sarah Welch, husband George Miller, son Garry Gann, and her four siblings.
