Thelma May Polizo died early on the morning of May 13 at her home in Vandenberg Village. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Earlier, Thelma worked in a department store and met her soon to be husband Doneno "Bill" Polizo at a USO Dance in Oklahoma City. After moving to the central coast in 1959, she worked as a telephone operator and at a Vandenberg Air Force Base fire station as a secretary.
Mom had many friends and was beautiful and wonderful and as kind as she was friendly. Her favorite pastimes included traveling with Bill after his retirement. They especially enjoyed several European countries where they met lots of good people and continued friendship over the years. She loved and cherished her beloved husband, six children and grandchildren. She was a wonderful homemaker and enjoyed her garden, shopping and playing poker. She was the center of her family
She is survied by her husband Bill, daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Terry, Debbie and Jim, Sandy and Steve, Barbara and Joseph, daughter in Law Margret, grandchildren Ryan, Andrea, Marsan, Ricky, Michael, Krista and Jonathan, great grandchildren, Ian, Alison and Kyira. She was preceded in death by two sons Rick and David Polizo, her parents Hershel and Elsie Miller-Wicks, her sisters Marie and Edna and her little brother Hersly Lee and twin sister Elma who she always missed.
A celebration of life and memorial service will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary from 2 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 18th.
