It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the passing of Timothy Howell, lovingly known as “Timmy,” “Poppa Bear,” “Timber,” and “Coach,” of Lompoc, California.

Tim was born and raised in Lompoc, a community he loved deeply and proudly called home throughout his life. From a young age, he had a natural talent and passion for sports, eventually playing professional baseball as a catcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He later became an electrician, dedicating himself to providing for his family.

Tim was a loving husband, devoted father, protective dad, proud grandfather, and a true jokester who could bring laughter wherever he went. He had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished spending time with his family camping at Jalama Beach and Red Rock. Hunting and fishing were among his greatest passions, and many memories were made around a campfire, on the water, or simply enjoying the outdoors with the people he loved.

He also loved to barbecue and cook for his family and friends. There was always room at his table, and he never hesitated to feed anyone who came through his door. Whether it was family, friends, or someone simply stopping by, Tim had a way of making everyone feel welcomed.

He was deeply involved with Lompoc youth sports and spent many years giving his time and heart to the kids of his community. He served as president of the LGSA softball league for many years and as a coach, a longtime Little League baseball coach as well as youth football and basketball. He also believed strongly in giving back by barbecuing for fundraisers and any gatherings.

He had a love for music, especially classic rock and country music. He had a big personality, an unforgettable sense of humor, and an even bigger heart. He had a way of making people laugh, feel welcome, and know they were loved.

Timothy was preceded in death by his parents, Benny Bob and Marian Howell of Lompoc, California.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Teresa Howell; his two brothers, Bobby Howell (Cathy Howell) and Roy Howell (Beverly Howell); his three children, Jessica Reyna (John Reyna), Courtney Dosa, and Trenten Howell (Mackenzee Howell); and his three beloved granddaughters, Brynn Reyna, Leilani Reyna, and Sydnee Howell. He also leaves behind his two grand-dogs; Eleanor and Charlie, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and countless members of the community whose lives he touched.

Tim will be remembered for the life he built, the people he loved, the laughter he brought to those he met, the children he mentored and his involvement in the community, and the countless ways he gave and loved his family.

His absence will be felt deeply, and he will be missed more than words can express.
