Timothy Burrell, Jr. of Lompoc died Monday, June 18, 2012, at the age of 83.
Timothy was born April 25, 1929 in Winston-Salem, North Carolina to Timothy and Alberta Burrell. He was raised in North Carolina graduating from A & T College in Greensboro. He later completed his education by earning a master's degree in physical education at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.
He served as a master sergeant in the United States Air Force and the Air Force Reserves. A resident of Lompoc since 1966, he was employed as a supervising educator at the Federal Correction Center and as a counselor at the Los Prietos Boys Camp.
Timothy enjoyed all sports, especially basketball, baseball and hockey. He was an official for city league basketball and often volunteered his time to help special needs children in Santa Barbara.
Timothy is survived by his wife of 58 years Lillie Burrell of Lompoc, nine children and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy in 1995.
The visitation will be on Tuesday, June 26, at 1:30 with the funeral service starting at 2:30 in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Burial will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
