Tomasa Reyna Terrones

(December 21, 1925 – November 08, 2023)

In loving memory, we celebrate the life of Tomasa Reyna Terrones "Weta" who passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, at the age of 97. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren at the family home of 61 years.

Tomasa was born on December 21, 1925, to Atanasio and Daria Nieto Reyna in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, and was the eldest daughter of eight siblings.  It was here she met and married her husband, Daniel S. Terrones in June 1947. Once married, they made the decision to move to Lompoc California in 1951. Tomasa stayed at home to raise her family and was a loving and devoted wife to Daniel.

Tomasa was a strong woman and a mother with high expectations for a well-run home and a strong sense of values she passed on to her eleven children. Tomasa's talent as a seamstress came in handy as she designed dresses for her eight daughters, and one neighbor little girl (Joanie), who always wanted to dress like the "Terrones girls". Tomasa will be remembered for her amazing cooking skills in Mexican dishes made from scratch. She managed to stretch out food for anyone who found their way to the house during mealtime. We will never forget the homemade flour tortillas she made every day. She was a very kind and generous person who was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Tomasa is survived by her brother, Trinidad Nieto Reyna of Mexico, seven daughters, and three sons. They are Rosa (Armando) Chavez, Martha (Angel) Ramos, Alice (Sam) Ramirez, Margarita (Abel Charles) Terrones, Rebecca (Patrick) Terek, Daniel Terrones, Patricia (Bill) Tello, Ralphy Terrones, Gloria (Frank) Taitague, Art Terrones (Stella Rea), 30 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Tomasa is preceded in death by her husband Daniel S. Terrones, daughter Rachel Reyna Garcia, her brothers Cesario, Jose de Jesus, Gabriel, Jose, and Reyna Nieto, sisters, Maria Guadalupe, and Petra Reyna Nieto, and great-granddaughter, Desire Terrones Jordan.

We would like to thank Dr. Rollin Bailey, Lompoc Valley Medical Center, VNA Health, and especially her caregivers, Leticia Lopez, Jovita Aramburo, and Ana Gomez Saldana for the dignified and gentle care she received.

Rest in Peace Mom (Weta), you will be deeply missed, no other words can be expressed for our loss.

A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday, 19 November 2023, at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be held Monday, 20 November 2023, at 10:00 am at La Purisima Catholic Church with interment at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery following the service.
