Valorie Yvonne Avants, 64, passed away at her home in Lompoc CA unexpectedly on October 24, 2022.  She was born in Redwood City, California to parents, Lee Avants and Faye Avants, on January 24, 1958.  Her parents and four daughters settled in Lompoc, California where she graduated from Lompoc High School in 1976.  She went on to earn her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California in 1980.  After graduation she worked as a pharmacist in Southern California before returning to Lompoc where she settled permanently, working as a pharmacist at Longs Drug Store and Albertson's Pharmacy then most recently at CVS Pharmacy.  She loved her job and loved helping people.

Val had many talents but her favorite was writing.  Over the years, she wrote dozens of books and short stories, many of which were published online.  Her other hobbies included collecting comic books, reading, and essential oils.  She was a Marvel and DC comic enthusiast and had quite the collection of comic books and action figures.  Her passion for these has been passed onto her nephews and grandnieces and will live on through them (she made them the Marvel and DC nerds they are today).  Marvel movies were on the top of their to-do list whenever they were together.

Val had a heart of gold, a beautiful soul and she will be dearly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lee Avants and Faye Avants, and her sister, Mary Avants.

She is survived by her sisters, Renee Campbell and Pamela Avants, niece, Linsey Avants, nephews, Greg Bell and Matthew Campbell along with eight grandnieces and grandnephews and one great-niece.

Services will be held on November 19, 2022 1:00 pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc.
