Vaughn Allen Fletcher of Lompoc, California left planet Earth on Monday, March 28, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Vaughn was born in Plum Borough, Pennsylvania in 1948, to Robert Arthur Fletcher and Mary Thelma Lee Fletcher. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was employed for many years as an electronics technician in the defense industry. He had a strong love of photography and music, which he carried throughout his life, taking pictures of his family, playing guitar, harmonica, and singing. Vaughn never ran out of jokes. He had a rapid fire sense of humor and could turn even the darkest situation into a comedy show. He was intelligent, empathetic, caring and he loved to make everyone laugh.
He is survived by his daughter Carrie Anne Fletcher; grandsons David and Silas; previous wife and friend Deborah Fletcher; sister Arvilla "Inga" Fletcher Strum; nephews Michael Strum, Samuel Strum, Jeffrey Strum, and A.J. Strum; neices Diane Fletcher, Wendy Fletcher, Stacey Calderone and Indie Calderone.
There's little doubt that Vaughn is somewhere with a fishing pole and a beer, listening to the Doors.
The graveside funeral service with military honors will be Friday, April 1, 2016, at 2 pm, in the pavilion of the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
