Vicente Zúñiga 1937 – 2011

Vicente Zúñiga Castañeda of Lompoc passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2011, at his home in Lompoc. Vicente was born on January 29, 1937, in Zacatecas, Mexico, to Jose and Lucina Zuniga. He married Concepcion Ramirez on February 28, 1960; they had been married for 50 years.

Vicente was in the agricultural industry for 50 years and was a foreman in his last position. He enjoyed playing billiards. He was a member of La Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church. Vicente had a good sense of humor and loved his family deeply.

Vicente is survived by his wife Concepcion of Lompoc; children, Irma Zúñiga of Oklahoma, Jose Cruz Zúñiga of Lompoc, Elvia Monreal and Beatriz Tamayo of Lompoc, Martha Martinez of Oxnard, Lupe Araujo, Laura Gonzalez and Rocio Tamayo of Lompoc; grandchildren, Cruz Jr., Zúñiga, Irvin Zúñiga, Conchita Zúñiga, Angel Zúñiga, Erik Zúñiga, Monica Monreal, Sergio Javier Monreal, Alberto and Alejandro Monreal, Adriana Tamayo, Martin Jr. Tamayo, Luis Zúñiga, Keira Martínez, Karina Araujo, Jorge Jr. Araujo, Julian Araujo, Benjamin Vargas, Celena Vargas, Johnny Gonzalez, Angel Tamayo, Viviana Tamayo, Vianney Tamayo, and Adrian Tamayo of Lompoc; great grandchildren Shanelle Zúñiga, Irvin Jr. Zúñiga, Mariah and Melissa Salegio, Khloe Vargas, Micaela Monreal, Aliana Zúñiga; sisters, Carmen Lucero and Esther Delgado of Oxnard, and brother, Jose Flores of Zacatecas, Mexico.

A visitation will be held in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Wednesday, September 7, 2011, from 4 to 8 pm with a vigil to be held at 7 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2011, at 10 am at La Purisima Concepcion Catholic Church, 213 W. Olive Ave., Lompoc. Burial will be at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery, 600 South C Street, Lompoc, following the funeral mass.
