Victoria (Luna) Golson, known to friends and family as Vickie, passed away on August 9th, at the Lompoc Valley Medical center at the age of 56. She has been a resident of Lompoc most of her life and also graduated from Lompoc High School. Long before she became ill she found her calling as a caregiver to several local families.
She is survived by her children Justin, Renee, and Dani Rae; grandchildren Riley, Ashley, Carter, Matthew, Gracie Victoria; sisters and brothers Espie, Nacho and Susan, Ernie, Bea, Arnold, Debbie, Rudy, all her nieces and nephews and son-in-law Travis all residents of northern and central California. She was preceded in death by her mother Virgina Talavera, father Ignacio Luna, sister, Mary Lou, and brother Albert.
Vickie was loved by many people and extended her generosity and love to all her friends and family. She loved helping and giving what she could. Vickie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She had such an amazing sense of humor along with a wonderful laugh. She fought a long and hard battle with cancer for almost 4 years. Our mother had such a strong heart despite her illness and surpassed all expectations from all her doctors and caregivers. Dr. Donna Walker was her oncologist and in our eyes helped our beloved mother fight and stay strong until the end. We owe our deepest gratitude to Dr. Walker. We would also like to thank the nurses and staff at the Lompoc Hospital for taking such great care of our mother in her last few weeks. We would also like to recognize her son Justin who unselfishly became her caregiver in the last year of her life. He did such an amazing job with our mother.
Our memories of her will never be forgotten. She has been our rock, strength, confidant, friend, and loved one.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 16th, 2012 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Burial will follow at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
