IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Vincent Lopaz
Hicks
December 29, 1958 – August 27, 2023
Vincent Lopaz Hicks was born on December 29, 1958, in Chicago, IL., known to close friends as Bo. He graduated from Parker High School and continued his education at Coyne Electricity School where he received his degree.
Vincent was extremely talented, he was a DJ, played drums, and did carpentry. He loved to go to family gatherings and spend time with his siblings and cousins. He had a smile so big and a laugh so deep there was no way you wouldn't be laughing and smiling with him. He had an eye and passion for fashion which meant there was never a moment when he wasn't dressed to impress. Vince was always into something, meeting new people and exploring all of south side Chicago in the 1960's. This meant he had ample moments to be a part of and witness black history. His family was the 3rd family to move into their Englewood neighborhood in Chicago. In 1966 while at church with his mother Vincent got to meet and shake hands with Dr. King. This was a normal activity for him as his mother was a very active member of the civil rights movement and the progression of black people in Chicago.
Vincent did not stay in Chicago long into his adult life, he later moved to California. Though he enjoyed the city he lived in, it was not an easy transition at first. He ran into some trials and tribulations and had to find the strength and courage to pull himself out of it. He never stopped fighting and eventually got to a point of peace. Vincent was not a man of many words but those that got the opportunity to know him loved him very much. His positivity and light have left a trail through the lives he's crossed paths with to remind them there will always be a brighter day.
Vincent leaves behind children; Monique, Dewanda, Vincent, Krystal, Sherita, Mariah, and Aisha, grandchildren Keith, Crystal-Lynn, Mason, Kyla, Vashon, Jayden, Kaden, Jaliyah, Tobias, Jakeria, Jania, Jamal, J'Mya, great-grandchildren; Victoria, Ta'Ryah, and Delilah, siblings; Tyrone, Denise, and Gregory. Vincent will be received by his mother; Bertha, father; Denith, brothers; Leroy and Dwayne and son; Tyrese.
A memorial service for Vincent will be held at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary Chapel on Friday, October 27, 2023, at noon.
