Violet Hester Meadows Forren passed away peacefully on July 6, 2017. Having lived in Lompoc for over 50 years, Vi was a family oriented person known for her extreme generosity to family, neighbors, and friends. Working for many years in care of the elderly in Lompoc, she embodied Christian charity and kindness. Lovely and strong, she will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Born on July 20, 1929 in Look Out, West Virginia, she lived in many states and nations as a wife of Air Force Sergeant, James Russell Forren, who died in November, 1982. At one point, she took a ship from New York to Japan with two little children to meet "Jim" during his deployment there. They made their home in Vandenberg Village in the early 1960s and raised their three children. Vi lived in the family home until June of this year.
She was preceded in death by her son Larry Michael Forren. His widow Tina Forren still resides in Lompoc.
Vi is survived by her sons Johnnie Ray Forren (Anne), San Diego and Robert Russell Forren, Lompoc. She is also survived by grandchildren: Jamie Rose Forren Taylor, her husband Richard Taylor, and two great grandchildren Eleanor Violet and Richard Henry, Buckinghamshire, England; Daniel Michael Forren, San Jose area; Robert Russell Brown, San Diego; and Grace Claibourne Forren, South Orange, New Jersey.
She is also survived by two siblings. Her brother Ty Cobb Swaggerty (Carolyn) Tarpon Springs, Florida and Columbus, Ohio. Her sister Connie Kepke, Ft. Lauderdale.
There will be a graveside service at Lompoc Cemetery on July 18 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Santa Barbara County Food Bank where Vi was a frequent contributor.
