Violet "Vi" Mae Machado of Lompoc died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at the age of 74.
Vi was born March 24, 1935, to Charles and Dora Halbrook in Vinita, Oklahoma. Formerly of Burns, Oregon she has been a resident of Lompoc since 1985. Trained as a cosmetologist, she was employed at Ellen's dress shop in Solvang for many years. She later obtained a real estate license but preferred the life of a homemaker.
After her marriage to Anthony Machado in 1985 Vi became a member of Queen of Angels Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling.
Vi is survived by her husband of 25 years Tony Machado of Lompoc, Tony's children Ardeane and Rodney Eckert of Lompoc, Tony Machado, Jr. and his wife Marilyn of Lompoc, Peggi and Sonny Arnold of Lompoc, her grandchildren Kim and Jim Kelly, Kandi Swanson, Tony Machado, III and his wife Belinda, Francine Martinez and Christopher Martinez, her great grandchildren Alexis, Justin and Nicole, and numerous nieces and nephews. The youngest of eight children she is also survived by her sister Carmalee Smith of Sweet Home, Oregon.
In honor of her request no service will be held. Cremation will be followed by private inurnment. Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
