Obituary

Virgilio Cortez, Sr. was called to heaven to be with his loved ones on August 01, 2021. His mother Elviria and dad Pablo Cortez, his wife Elsie Cortez, stepsons David and Gibby Terrones, grandson Mikey Terrones.

Virgilio Cortez, Sr. is survived by his sister Paula Cortez; his children Virgilio Cortez II, Yolanda Cortez (daughter-in-law), Michael, and Richie Terrones; his grandchildren Virgilio Cortez III, Vincent, Ruben, Lovey Cortez, Zach, Brianna, Cooper, Hunter, Grant, Diego, Nico, Luke Terrones; his great grandkids Leilah, Jordyn, Havana, Uziel Cortez. Julianna, Gabriella, Vida, Avyanna, Makenzie, and Cooper Jr Terrones; and his dog Cowboy Cortez

Virgil was a proud Texan, he graduated from Burbank High School in San Antonio Texas.  As soon as he graduated high school he enlisted in the US Air Force, he proudly served at the Vandenberg Air Force Base.  He served his country for 20 years.  Once he retired from the US Air Force, he went to work at the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department for 18 years.  He retired from the Santa Barbara Sheriff's Department in 2016.

Virgil enjoyed many things in his life, he loved to go fishing, having Sunday menudo with his family, going to church, watching his grandsons under the Friday night lights, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, having family barbeques, and drinking a nice cold tall boy with his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 12, 2021, at 10 am at La Purisima Catholic Church followed by burial at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.  To view the service via Live Stream, go to starbucklind.com and click on Virgilio's photo.
