Vigil services for Virginia Abbott, 96, of Lompoc will be 5 p.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. A funeral mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald officiating. Burial will follow at Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
Virginia was born September 4, 1913 in Montague, Texas to Charlie and Katie Nobile. She was raised and educated in Montague and graduated from Montague High School. Virginia lived and worked on a Texas ranch most of her life and liked to garden especially growing roses and tomatoes. She belonged to Our Lady of Lourdes and Our Lady of Perpetual Health. She moved to Lompoc from Bowie, Texas and attended La Purisima Catholic Church.
She died Sunday, November 8, 2009 at her home
Survivors include daughter, Wanda Macpherson of Lompoc, son, Raymond Abbott of Texas; grandchildren, Stephen Macpherson and Keith Abbott; great-grandchildren, Stephanie Macpherson, Jon Paul Pack, Matt Azevedo, and Cassie Azzevedo. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Abbott and her parents.
Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the mortuary.
