Virginia C. Ellis of Lompoc passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at the age of 81.
Virginia was born to Ralph and Voletah Klaasen in Whittier, California on January 9, 1926. She attended schools in Whittier and graduated from the California State University at Berkeley. She was a secretary for a number of years at Johns Manville in Lompoc, and retired as the secretary for Santa Barbara County Supervisor Dianne Owen. To sharpen her cooking skills Virginia graduated from a cooking school in Santa Barbara.
Formerly of Hawaii, Virginia came to the Lompoc Valley in 1949 where she met and married Jim Ellis. She was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lompoc.
Virginia is survived by her son and his wife, Bradley and Taffy Ellis of Lompoc; daughter, Sally Scott of Chico; daughter and her husband, Robin and Steve Smith of Lompoc; brother and his wife, Ralph and Dorothy Klaasen of San Clemente, and five grandchildren. Her husband James Ellis preceded her in death in 2006.
The graveside funeral service will be on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery. Pastor Jim Mackereth of the Bethany Lutheran Church will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary
