Wayne was born on November 2, 1951 and passed away November 2, 2006. He was 55 years old.
He was born in Clinton, Arkansas to Guy and Viola Rains. Wayne was a beautiful baby and welcomed by his six sisters and three brothers. His family moved to Bakersfield, CA. in 1953. When he was 5 years old he welcomed the last of the clan, his baby sister, Rhonda.
Wayne attended Wayside Elementary, Golden State Jr., High and South High School in Bakersfield. He moved to Lompoc in 1968 and graduated from Lompoc High in 1969. He graduated from Allan Hancock College in 1974.
He married Beatrice Ball in 1977 and had two sons, Garrett and Brenton whom he adored and became an integral part of their lives.
Wayne began his career at Johns-Manville, now Celite-Corp, in 1978. Among his co-workers were his three brothers, Gerald, Jerry, and Harlin. He worked in maintenance department and was very active in the union. Wayne was looking forward to his retirement in March of 2007.
He is survived by his sons, Garrett and Brenton of Lompoc, brothers, Gerald (Janice) and Harlin of Lompoc. Sisters, Bernice Gray of Missouri, Berlene (Ray) Brady, Evelyn Sonnier, Esta Brimmage, Kathy (Ron) Henry all of Bakersfield. Lauren (Pete) Ranard of Lompoc and Rhonda (Rick) Larson of Palm Desert and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father in 1962, his brother, Jerry, in October of 1997 and his mother in November of 1997.
Wayne was loving, generous, funny, a wonderful person. His family, friends and co-workers will always miss him and forever love him.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 9 from 4pm-8pm at the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Memorial services will be Friday, November 10 at 2:00pm at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Interment will follow at the Lompoc Cemetery.
