WILLIAM C. GOODRICH
September 14, 1957 – April 22, 2022
William C. Goodrich, Sgt Bill or Bill to those who knew him, passed away suddenly on Friday afternoon of April 22, 2022.
Bill was born September 14, 1957, in Massachusetts to Thelma Jo and William Goodrich Sr. In 1962 the family left Massachusetts and traveled to California, eventually settling in Lompoc. Bill attended local schools and graduated from Lompoc High School in 1976.
Bill dedicated his life to fitness. He became interested in bodybuilding at a young age and strove to be the strongest, fittest person he could be. He was well known in town and a legend in his field. He helped numerous people, young and old, attain their fitness goals. He was a role model and mentor to many, especially those that were having trouble finding their way. Beyond his gruff and powerful persona, however, was a gentle, loving man who never let an animal go hungry and wouldn't even kill a spider if he could help it.
Bill was proud of his time in the US Army and California National Guard. During his service he earned many awards and medals. He had many stories to tell of his time with the military, often relaying them as life lessons to those struggling to find their way.
Later in life, Bill found the passion for writing. It was a talent that he had enjoyed but not pursued until life slowed down enough for him to find the time to put his imagination to work. This is where he found his niche.
Bill was a doting father, grandfather, husband and partner. He will be missed by all those who loved him but especially his partner and companion of 31 years, Kathy Tatick, daughters Nicole Tatick and Melissa Goodrich, son and little buddy, Logan Goodrich, granddaughters Malikayla Jordan, Emma Tatick, and Zaiah, grandsons Kaiser and Tobias Schanick, Robert Davila, and Jordan, and his big sister Doris.
Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Friday, June 17, 2022, at 4:30 pm. It will be held at the Abel Maldonado Recreation Center in Santa Maria, 600 S McClelland St. Bill's life was a life cut too short, but a life well-lived. How we miss his quirky personality and sense of humor. Until we meet again, Sarge. Never goodbye, just see you later.
