William Thomas Kozel (78) of Lompoc, California, known to his friends as Bill, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 1:51 p.m. surrounded by family. He was born on March 17, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Mary Louise Stainback and John Joseph Kozel. Bill married his true love Sylvia Evelyn Henley on February 24, 1983. Bill will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, music, his great mind, light-hearted wit, his generosity, and his big heart. In addition to Sylvia, his wife of 40 years, survivors include his daughter Susan, his step-daughter Debra, his many grandkids and great-grandkids, other relatives, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Kristen Elizabeth on December 5, 2022.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Church of the Nazarene, 500 E. North Ave., Lompoc on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Terrie Harper and Pastor Travis Caldera presiding.  In honor of Bill's love of all things chocolate, a cookie reception will be held in the church foyer immediately following the service.
