William W. Martin of Lompoc died Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at the age of 80.
William was born August 28, 1936, in Moline, Illinois to Howard and Lorna Martin. He graduated from the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas in 1959 where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.
Formerly of Montecito, William has been a resident of Lompoc since 1960. He and his father developed many properties in Lompoc including the University Park neighborhood. He was an accomplished broker and founder of the first Multiple Listing Group in Lompoc.
He was a past president of the Lompoc Board of Realtors and a lifetime member of Society of Exchange Counselors. He was a Shriner and 32nd degree Mason with the Lompoc-Santa Ynez Masonic Lodge #262. He was a member of the Lompoc Elks Lodge #2247 and the local Moose Lodge. He enjoyed camping, fishing and traveling and was a member of an RV club. He also enjoyed trains and antique cars and was a member of several car clubs.
He is survived by his daughter Anissa of Donnelly, Idaho; daughter Terri of Allen, Texas; stepson Mike of Santa Barbara; stepdaughter Karen of Lompoc; stepdaughter Shannon of Melbourne, Florida; stepson Sean of Lompoc; 12 grandchildren and one great grandson. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Carole Martin in 2011; his parents and his great grandson Anthony.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, January 4, 2016, at 2pm in the chapel of the Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Interment will follow in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.
