William Alexander Peet, Jr., of Lompoc died Saturday, September 15, 2007, at the age of 83.
William was born on April 3, 1924, to William and Gertrude Peet in Glen Cove, New York. He served in the United States Army, fighting in World War II and in the Korean War. He was stationed in Germany and Japan, and retired from the Army at Ft. Dietrich, Maryland.
He was employed by Grumman, now Northrop, and Lockheed at Vandenberg Air Force Base as a system analyst for 20 years. He worked on the lunar landing module, the space shuttle, and a number of Navy aircraft.
William was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion 211 VFW, and was a member of the Lompoc American Golf Association. He attended La Purisima and Queen of Angels Catholic Churches.
William is survived of his wife of 17 years, Maria Arlinda "Linda" Peet of Lompoc, daughter Karen Peet of Lompoc, son William A. Peet of Glen Cove, New York, and two grandchildren, Megan Dolores and Sean Michael.
William was preceded in death by his first wife Dolores in 1985 and his sister Mary Sherwood in 2006.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 18, from 3-7 pm with the evening vigil service at 6 pm, in the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary. Interment will be at a later date at the Calverton National Cemetery in Calverton, New York.
