Obituary

William "Bill" Edward Skinner, formerly of Lompoc, died December 23, 2016, at the age of 58.

William was born May 4, 1958, in Harlingen, Texas, one of eight children, to John and Loretta Skinner. He was raised and educated in Lompoc, graduating from Lompoc High School with the class of 1976.

Most recently, William was employed as a music instructor at Music, Stars & Masters and World Speak Schools in Los Angeles. He also taught private lessons at Pierre's Fine Piano and at students' homes. His last recital was on February 21, 2016. He loved living near the ocean. He enjoyed golf, animals and art.

William is survived by his parents; his daughter Calypso Skinner of Paris, France; girlfriend Ana Maria FonToura: his sisters Dr. Valarie L. Skinner-Martin (Kevin) of Lompoc and Angela D Sherick-Bright (William) of Los Angeles; his brothers Michael A. Skinner, Larry E. Skinner (Donna) of Las Vegas, Jonathan O. Skinner (Janelle) of Winchester, California, Frederick D. Skinner of Mexico and Brian Lee Skinner of Santa Rosa; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life featuring musical selections from some of his students was held in Los Angeles last month. William's ocean farewell will be held at Ocean Park in Lompoc on January 14, 2017 at 11 am, followed by a reception at his parents' home at 1 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, Lung Cancer Foundation of America or Hospice of Los Angeles.
