Memorial services for Willie E. Freeman, 91, of Lompoc, will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 14, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Rev. Msgr. John Fitzgerald of Queen of Angels Catholic Church officiating. The Vandenberg Air Force Base Honor Guard will present military honors. Inurnment will be at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
Mr. Freeman was born December 24, 1917 in New Mexico. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1950. While stationed in France, he met and married his wife of 56 years, Lucette Streicher of Paris, France. Willie's last duty station was at Vandenberg Air Force Base where he retired in 1975 after 25 years of service.
Willie was a gentleman with a great sense of humor and positive attitude. He was always kind to everyone and made the best out of every situation. He loved to joke around and make people smile. Willie was a wonderful husband who loved life and his little Scotch. His favorite pastime was keeping busy in the garage.
He died Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at his home.
Survivors include his wife, Lucette Freeman of Lompoc; and cousin, Victoria Etchegoincelhay of San Francisco.
