Memorial services for Willina I. Moore, 91, of Lompoc, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2009 at the chapel of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary with Deacon Art Hill of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church officiating.
Willina was born November 5, 1917 in Camp Hill, Alabama to Arthur and Willie Alvis Heard. She was raised and educated in Alabama and graduated from high school before enlisting in the military. She entered the U.S Air Force in New Orleans, Louisiana and worked within data services at various duty stations including overseas at Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany. After 21 years of honorable service, she retired as a Data Services Supervisor at Vandenberg Air Force Base in 1967 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. She liked to macramé and also was an avid reader.
She died Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at Lompoc Valley Medical Center.
Survivors include her sister, Darnell Jones of Camp Hill, Alabama; niece, Ruby Hall of Lompoc; nephews, James Smith and Warren Smith of Washington and Cerrell Billups of Hesperia, Calif; and a host of other relatives.
