September 6, 1941 – November 4, 2021
On November 4, 2021, Yolanda "Yoli" Vargas went home to be with the Lord. She was 80 years old.
Born on September 6, 1941, Yoli attended an All-Girls Catholic School in Santa Barbara and spent over 70 years in the city of Lompoc. The oldest child of Josefa O. Moreno and Jose B. Moreno, Yoli had 7 siblings, 3 brothers, and 4 sisters, Junior, Johnny Boy, Maria (Lupe), Laura, Rachel, Pancho, and Cathy.
Yoli had several jobs around town, including stocking videos at Blockbuster Video for many years. She was involved with the LOVARC organization for numerous years, enjoying trips to Disneyland and other exciting adventures; Mickey and Minnie Mouse were her favorite characters. She also loved to collect dolls and stuffed animals and many family members contributed to her collections over the years. She lived independently for over 30 years and met many friends in the Rainbow Plaza community. She would enjoy eating out at McDonald's or Carl's Jr with them.
Yolanda's family was loving and large, with extended family that came along the way. She enjoyed spending time with nieces and nephews, always loving the chance to watch over them as a careful aunt would. She had 8 nieces, 7 nephews, 14 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, 6 great, great-nieces, and 3 great, great-nephews!
Yoli is preceded in death by her mother Josefa, her father Jose, and 2 brothers, Junior and Johnny Boy. She is survived by her sisters Maria (Lupe), Laura, Rachel, and Cathy, and her brother Pancho.
Yoli lived a long and full life. Her family and friends loved her so much because no matter what, she always had a smile and a laugh for you. She was a bright light that was given the chance to burn bright, achieving so many things that others thought were not possible. She will always be remembered by all that were lucky enough to be graced with her light.
A viewing will be at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary on Thursday, November 18 th from 3pm-6pm with the rosary following at 6pm. The funeral and mass will be held the following day, November 19 th , at La Purisima church at 10am.
