In the early hours of August 21, Yvonne passed away after a long, courageous, battle with cancer at the age of 67.

Born June 16th, 1955 in Leadville, Colorado, Yvonne Ouimette was born to Wayne and Bettye Ouimette the fourth of five children. The family moved to Mission Hills, Lompoc, California when she was three and that was where she was raised. She graduated from Cabrillo High School and after receiving her cosmetology license in 1973 she moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a stylist. Yvonne moved back to Lompoc in 1978 and shortly after met Stan Young, her future husband. She later earned an accounting degree from Santa Barbara Business College and began working for the Air Force at VAFB.

Stan and Yvonne married and celebrated the birth of their first child, Jessica, in 1986. Then, in 1987, their twin sons, Sean and Cory, were born. Yvonne had an innate instinct for helping others in need. She was heavily involved in her children's lives as part of the PTA, as a team mom, and as a band mom; she was a mother to everyone and provided childcare for many friends and family. A seamstress since childhood, she enjoyed being challenged by taking on commissions over the years, for a variety of different types of projects. She made dresses for a number of weddings including for her daughter, daughters-in-law, and Nieces.

Yvonne was a woman of many interests but finally found her calling in the medical field. While raising her three young children, she took classes and proudly earned her CNA Certificate. She found her vocation in at-home care for the elderly and Hospice., where she could give people the time and total care she felt they deserved. However, nothing gave her more joy in her life than the time she spent with the newest generation of kids as they came along.

Yvonne is survived by her husband, Stan, her sister, Sheri (Gib) Hullinger, her children, Jessica (Dustin) Clemons, Sean (Victoria), and Cory, her grandchildren Alice, Malcolm, and Luetta, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at the United Church of Christ, 3346 Constellation Road, Vandenberg Village, on Saturday, September 10th at 11:00 am, with a celebration of life following. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital.
